Shana has over 20 years of business and marketing writing experience in industries such as technology, life sciences, and higher education.  

With an MBA from the University of California’s Paul Merage School of Business, Shana has worked as a people manager leading teams and as an individual contributor managing brands, resources and budgets.  For more than 7 years, she taught business, communications and management classes at Orange Coast College, one of the largest community colleges in Southern California where she reinforced her knowledge, skills, and abilities through interactive instructor-led and online learning.

Shana is a strategic communicator at her core.  In the early 90’s, just out of college, Shana cut her teeth in customer service working for Health Net, a leading healthcare payer.  In investigating and solving complaints of confused, frustrated, and indignant members multiple times a day, Shana quickly learned the importance of using strategy to communicate effectively and authentically with customers.  The careful selection of her words influenced whether she would gain the trust and loyalty of a disgruntled customer – or risk losing that customer to a competing healthcare payer during the next open enrollment period.

In transitioning into sales and eventually into brand marketing in competitive industries and diverse environments over the years, Shana has consistently leveraged the knowledge that strategy is the driving force for effective communications.   It is with this mindset – capturing the strategic voice of an organization to drive results – that she approaches every written project.
